Minhaj-ul-<a href="http://www.islamicresearcher.com/?s=quran"target="_self"title="Quran" >Quran International organized an All-Pakistan Mashaykh Conference in the central secretariat in Model Town on March 3, 2009, which was attended by more than 300 religious scholars, Mashaykh and Pirs from across Pakistan. The participants regarded the conduct of this conference timely for elimination of extremist and terrorist attitudes, protection of teachings of Sufis and Islamic mysticism, revival of religious and spiritual values and the safeguarding of Islamic beliefs. The Mashaykh jointly condemned the terrorist attack on the Sri Lankan Cricket team in Lahore and called it an attack on Pakistan. The prominent scholars and Pirs from among those who attended the conference included Dewan Bakhtiar Syed Muhammad Chishti from Pakpattan Sharif, Sajjada Nasheen Bhaira Sharif Sahibzada Amin-ul-Hasnaat, Sajjada Nasheen Dhangri Sharif Azad Kashmir Pir Attique-ur-Rahman, Moinee-ud-Din Koureja, Pir Syed Khalil-ur-Rehman Chishti, Pir Mohi-ud-Din Mahboob, Sahibzada Habib Nawaz, Pir Ghulam Rizwani Jilani, Pir Makhdoom Nadeem Hashmi, Pir Muneer Zakri, Makhdoom Wali Muhammad, Haji Ghulam Rasool Naqashbandi <a href="http://www.islamicresearcher.com/?s=shaykh-ul-islam"target="_self"title="Tahir-ul-Qadri" >Qadri Saifi, Pir Faiz Shahid Faizi, Makhdoom Muhammad Ahsan, Ghulam Mujataba Noori, Syed Zia-ul-Haq Gilani, Khan Wali Qadri, Pir Ghulam Dastigir Tougeervi, Bader Mohi-ud-Din Gilani, Pir Sanaullah Taibi Bokhari, Sahibzada Pir Syed Sajjad Shah Bokhari, Pir Faiz-ul-Hassan Shah and others.

Addressing the conference, <a href="http://www.islamicresearcher.com/?s=shaykh-ul-islam"target="_self"title="shaykh-ul-islam" >Shaykh-ul-Islam Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri said that <a href="http://www.islamicresearcher.com/tag/islam"target="_self"title="Islam" >Islam was a religion of <a href="http://www.islamicresearcher.com/category/peace-and-integration"target="_self"title="Peace and integration" >peace and harmony. Conservatism, terrorism and fundamentalism had nothing to do with Islam. Today’s Mashaykh Conference condemned these negative attitudes at every level in the strongest possible words. He said that the Sufis changed the destiny of millions of people through their character and by popularizing the notions of love, peace and security. They made different societies the hub of peace through their endeavours. He said Mashaykah and Pirs were playing their central role in promoting the peaceful attitudes in society.

He said that there was need to do more because the country was caught in the fire of worst kind of terrorism and conspiracies were being hatched to defame Islam and Pakistan. Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri said that this big gathering of Mashaykh indicated the fact that the spiritual centres in the country wanted peace and security. Minhaj-ul-Quran International would formulate such a system of spiritual training with the consultation and guidance of Mashaykh that would be instrumental in fostering spiritual values in society and would help establish durable peace in Pakistan.

He said that it has been decided to formulate a one-year course for spiritual training which would contain such ingredients as lectures of the Holy Quran, Hadith, moral, spiritual and scholarly aspects of Islam. This would have positive and deep impact on the society. It has also been decided that real spiritualism would be promoted by doing away with excesses and evil customs. The Pirs and religious scholars would play their role in spearheading these efforts.

Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri said that it was also agreed that spiritual training of <a href="http://www.islamicresearcher.com/tag/women-rights"target="_self"title="Women rights" >women was as important as that of men. He said the Conference also agreed that spiritual values would have to be revived in society to correct the moral disorder and chaos and Pirs and Mashaykh would play their role in the promotion of these values. He said that only spiritual Households could steer clear the ship of society, which was caught in the unchartered waters of materialism and today’s Mashaykh Conference was witness to the fact that spiritual personalities were aware of their responsibilities. He said that Mashaykh Conference also agreed that society needed to be equipped with modern, contemporary education in addition to religious one so that religious scholars could be able to respond to challenges facing Islam successfully.

Text of joint Communiqué adopted at All-Pakistan Mashaykh Conference

The participants showed their complete consensus over the following points in the joint communiqué:

The Conference condemned terrorism and extremism in all its forms and manifestations taking place anywhere in the world including Pakistan and it was resolved that Sufis & Mashaykh would play their role in promoting Islam’s message of love, peace and brotherhood throughout the world.

The participants vowed to work out a reformation strategy for all chains of spiritualism and for restoration of ‘Khankahi’ system.

It was decided to establish Mysticism Research Centre aimed at responding to the objections raised against the Sufis and promoting the mystic teachings in the light of teachings of past mystics and spiritualists.

The conference also decided to establish religious centres in all the Mazars and ‘Khankahs’ and the institutions which are run by MQI would make arrangements for special meetings of Sahibzadgans and respected Pirs.

The conference vowed to take practical steps in order to do away with negative traditions, customs and excesses in the convents. A supervisory committee comprising effective and influential Mashaykh would also be established in this regard.

A Contact Group comprising religious scholars and spiritualists would be established to oversee the implementation of the above-mentioned aims and objectives.

The conference also decided to bring into mainstream those centres of Ahl-e-Sunnat, which were working for promotion of education and imparting of training individually.

It was also resolved to formulate such a comprehensive syllabus for revival of ‘khankahi’ system as makes it easier for the general people to follow the teachings of Sufis.

It was also decided to hold workshops for imparting training and education to the people associated with Shrines, Darbars and other religious places.

The participants decided to establish good, standardized libraries in order to meet the need of references and research.

It was also decided to establish groups of Dhakkir & Durood keeping in view the system of training of different spiritual chains.

The conference decided to promote Dawa work based on reformatory and preaching ways of Sufis in shrines and Darbars. Special arrangements for education and spiritual training of women would be made and priority attention would be given to the problems of people.

The proceedings of the Conference were telecast live around the world by ARY Digital and Minhaj Internet Bureau. In addition to it, representatives of national and international media were also present to cover the programme.

The first part of the programme got under way at 10 p.m. at night with the recitation of the Holy Quran followed by Naats in the honour of the Holy Prophet (S.A.W). Thousands of participants gave standing ovation to Shaykh-ul-<a href="http://www.islamicresearcher.com/tag/islam"target="_self"title="Islam" >Islam Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri by waving their hands and chanting slogans upon his arrival in the Venue.

The second part of the programme got underway with the recitation from the Holy Quran by Qari <a href="http://www.islamicresearcher.com/category/love-of-allah"target="_self"title="Allah" >Allah Baksh Naqshbandi and Sahibzada Hammad Mustafa al-Madani. Muhammad Afzal Noshahi, Melaad Raza Qadri, Kabeer Ahmad, Akhtar Hussain Qureshi and Minhaj Naat Council recited Naat in the honour of the Holy Prophet (S.A.W).

Sahibzada Hassan Mohi-ud-Din Qadri and Sahibzada Hussain Mohi-ud-Din Qadri spoke in Arabic and English languages respectively. While listening to their speeches, one could easily be led to believe that both of the sons of Shaykh-ul-Islam were carving out their own place in the world of knowledge and research through their untiring efforts. Not only do they have their hand on the pulse of time but also are aware of the contemporary problems and their solutions.

When Shaykh-ul-Islam Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri was invited to deliver his keynote address at 2 a.m. the atmosphere of vast grounds of Minar-a-Pakistan resonated with slogans. The participants stood up to greet their beloved leader Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri. Millions of people from across the world watched these scenes of love and ecstasy. Thanks to live coverage of the programme, these people joined in to listen to the speech of Shaykh-ul-Islam with rapt attention. Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri spoke on the topic of “Morality of Mustafa (S.A.W)”.

Addressing the hundreds of thousands of participants of International Mawlid-un-Nabi Conference, the greatest conference in the Muslim world, Shaykh-ul-Islam Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri has said that the Muslim Umma got the blessings of Islam and Divine Gnosis through Mawlid-un-Nabi (S.A.W) and the entire Quran is a portrayal of the Prophet’s morality from start to the end. The magnum opus on the Seera of the Prophet is the Holy Quran. He said that ethics of the human self of the Holy Prophet were replaced with the Divine Morality in the form of the Verses of the Holy Book. That is how the morality of the Holy Prophet (S.A.W) transformed into the Divine Attributes. He said that Islam is a religion of mercy; Hazrat Muhammad (S.A.W) the Prophet of mercy and Holy Quran the book of mercy.

Implanting the Prophet (S.A.W)’s message of love, <a href="http://www.islamicresearcher.com/category/peace-and-integration"target="_self"title="Peace and integration" >peace and security in every heart is the need of the hour. He said Islam is a religion of peace, love and security. Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri said that love was the end product of faith and we have to let the love for the Holy Prophet permeate our lives in such a manner as eliminates all other kinds of worldly love. He said that we would have to establish external and internal peace. Internal peace means that the world of heart is watered with the love of the Holy Prophet (S.A.W) and internal world is enlightened by piety, cleanliness, firm faith in the Oneness of Allah and the Prophetic love by doing away with cardinal desires. When every person belonging to the Muslim Umma would become the embodiment of peace, security and harmony in society, it would pave way for the establishment of peace in external world. If the Muslim Umma wants to eradicate every shortcoming in its collective life, it should don the yoke of slavery of the Holy Prophet (S.A.W).

The conference was attended by hundreds of thousands of people including women in a large number. The venue was decorated very beautifully. There was great firework on display during the Conference and pigeons and balloons were also released in the air.

The Muqam e Mustafa Conference which took place in the Five Star Thistle Hotel in the centre of Glasgow with a turnout of almost 900 people was immensely successful and was also highly praised by Shaik ul <a href="http://www.islamicresearcher.com/tag/islam"target="_self"title="Islam" >Islam Prof. Dr. Muhammad Tahir ul <a href="http://www.islamicresearcher.com/?s=shaykh-ul-islam"target="_self"title="Tahir-ul-Qadri" >Qadri himself.

With many distinguished guests present including members of the non muslim community. MP Mr Alex Salmond leader of the Scottish Nationalist party and Assistant Chief Constable for community welfare John Neilston both of whom delivered a short speech with regards to the recent terrorist events taken place in London, and they wished to offer their support to the Muslim community for any problems they may be facing.

The topic of the conference was The Holy <a href="http://www.islamicresearcher.com/category/love-of-prophet"target="_self"title="Prophet ( saw )" >Prophets (saw) seerah in the present Era, due to this being the topic which was decided before the terrorist events which took place in London it gave Minhaj ul <a href="http://www.islamicresearcher.com/?s=quran"target="_self"title="Quran" >Quran International an opportunity to give a positive view of Islam and how MQI aims and objectives are againstn the teachings of extremism and instead is an organisation based on love, humbleness and <a href="http://www.islamicresearcher.com/category/peace-and-integration"target="_self"title="Peace and integration" >peace.

Assistant Chief Constable for community welfare John Neilston addressed the public focusing mainly to make the Muslim community aware that we should not be afraid of our safety and that if we do suffer any problems due to racial tension that we must report this to the police so that they may help the Muslim community. He also asked the Muslim community works together with other religions, faiths, and with the police to combat terrorism.

MP Alex Salmond also commented that the local communities have actually united together to help each other after these terrorist attacks. He gave his full support to the Muslim community and commented that he loves our community. He comments that many people criticise Islam but he believes that people have the right to their faith and to their identity without question of their nationality and he believes that the terrorist attacks which took place have no link with the true teachings of Islam.

He tells us that in previous interviews he has had with regards to this topic he has always reflected over the patriotism and loyalty of the Muslim Community in Scotland and how Scotland is very fortunate to have the Muslim community. He was of the opinion that the government should be tough on terrorism but also tough on the cause of terrorism. He concluded his speech saying ‘ I believe this movement, this organisation (indicating to Prof. Dr. Tahir ul Qadri) plays a significant role in helping Britain in the current position it is in and believes it is guiding people to the true and moderate path of Islam.

On the 20th August (27th Rajab 1427), Minhaj-ul-<a href="http://www.islamicresearcher.com/?s=quran"target="_self"title="Quran" >Quran International organised a heart-warming gathering, in the celebration and commemoration of the Holy <a href="http://www.islamicresearcher.com/category/love-of-prophet"target="_self"title="Prophet ( saw )" >Prophet’s (saw) Night Journey, which was telecast LIVE by the prominent channel Q-TV. This extraordinary journey took place during the Makkan Period and in it there are many lessons to be learnt by the Ummah. These wisdoms and realities became clear as light, through the benevolence shown to us by his eminence <a href="http://www.islamicresearcher.com/?s=shaykh-ul-islam"target="_self"title="shaykh-ul-islam" >Shaykh-ul-Islam Dr. Muhammad Tahir-ul-<a href="http://www.islamicresearcher.com/?s=shaykh-ul-islam"target="_self"title="Tahir-ul-Qadri" >Qadri.

The gathering began with the recitation of the Holy Quran by Sahibzada Hamad Mustapha al-Qadri, and Qari Jameel saab. After this there was a few recitations of Naat- Poems of praise in the honour of Holy Prophet (saw). Dr. Zahid Iqbal, who is the co-ordinator of Al Hidayah did a briefing on Al Hidayah 2006, which is a annual spiritual retreat for British and western Muslim Youth held at a residential site in the UK. In his talk he stressed on the need of us gaining Hidayah [guidance], which is achieved though the Suhba [company] of the auliyah [friends of <a href="http://www.islamicresearcher.com/category/love-of-allah"target="_self"title="Allah" >Allah], who possess connected chains of transmission back to Holy Prophet (saw).

Al-Fadeelat al-Shaykh Muhaddith al-Shaam Muhammad Al-Saeed As-Sagharji was the special guest in this programme from Damascus, Syria. He is currently the head Imam of Jamia al-Umawi in Damascus, which was the headquarters of the Ummayyid Dynasty. Currently Shaykh As-Sagharji is the leading Faqih [Jurist] in Syria, he has authored several books. One of them is on the key evidences from the Qur’an and Sunnah proving the Hanafi Fiqh, which is called al-Fiqh al-Hanafiyyah wa Adillatahu, this book is in three volumes and is taught at the al-Azhar University in Cairo, Egypt. One of his teachers is al-Shaykh Ibrahim al-Yaqoubi (ra) who was one of the authoritative scholars of the previous century. This is the first time that Shaykh as-Sagharji has visited Britain for the purpose of Dawah.

The Shaykh delivered his lecture in Arabic, which was then translated by Prof. Nisar Ahmed Sulaymani, Imam of Hounslow Mosque. In his lecture, the Shaykh described the events of Isra, the Night Journey, from Masjid al-Haram to Masjid al-Aqsa. The Shaykh quoted the first verse of Surah Bani Israeel, ‘Subhan aladhi asra bi abdihi laylah min al-masjid al-haram ila al-masjid al-aqsa aladhi barakna hawlahu linuriyahu min ayatina’. According to Shaykh as-Sagarji there is a difference of opinion amongst the scholars on which night is more superior Laylat al-Mi’raj [Night Journey and Ascension to Heavens] or Laylat al-Qadr [Night of Power]. The answer to this is that Laylat al-Qadr is superior in the sense that this is the most excellent night for the Ummah of Holy Prophey (saw), as they have a chance to have their sins forgiven. Whilst Laylat al-Miraj has its excellence as this night has its connection with Holy Prophet (saw). It was on this night that Holy Prophet (saw) led the other prophets in prayer and had met Allah (swt). The Shaykh ended by making dua for Minhaj-ul-Quran International and congratulated Shaykh-ul-<a href="http://www.islamicresearcher.com/tag/islam"target="_self"title="Islam" >Islam for his efforts.

After this Shaykh-ul-Islam Dr. Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri, gave an exhilarating two-hour lecture on the reality of Holy Prophet’s (saw) Mi’raj. His eminence Shaykh-ul-Islam started his lecture by quoting the verses of Surah Tin, which he gave a commentary, later on in the lecture. Shaykh-ul-Islam made the comment that the night of Mi’raj was the happiest night for Holy Prophet (saw), as this was the night when Holy Prophet (saw) met Allah.

The Mi’raj of Holy Prophet (saw) took place in three parts, each corresponding to the tri-dimension persona of Holy Prophet (saw). The first part of the journey was from Masjid al-Haram to Masjid al-Aqsa as is mentioned in the first verse of Surah Bani Isra’il. This part of the Journey was to be known as the Isra.

This journey was related to the outward physical dimension of Holy Prophet’s (saw) bashariyyah [Humanity]. Holy Prophet (saw) came with a bodily form to this earth so that he may give us i.e. Mankind, fayd [blessings] in the form of hidayah [guidance]. This mi’raj relating to the bashariyyah was concluded when Holy Prophet (saw) led the anbiyah [prophets] in prayer and became their Imam.

The second part of the journey, which is known as the Mi’raj, was from Masjid al-Aqsa to Sidrat al-Muntaha. This journey was in relation to the ruhanniyyah [spirituality] and nuraniyyah [the light] of Holy Prophet (saw). It was here at the point of Sidrat al-Muntahah that Holy Prophet (saw) became Sayyid al-Nur [Master of the Lights]; he became the leader of the whole of Alim al-Khalq [World of Creation] from the bashr [mankind] to the malaikah [angels].

The last and final part of the journey was from Sidrat al-Muntaha to Qaba Qawsain aw Adnah; this part of the journey according to Shaykh Nizamuddin Awliyah is called I’raj. The I’raj is related to the haqiqah [reality] of the Holy Prophet (saw), which is known only to Allah and his Prophet (saw). It was at this point that the mi’raj of Holy Prophet (saw) in relation to the tri-dimensions was completed. Here at qaba qawsain that Holy Prophet (saw) met Allah and had seen him with not only with his eyes but also with his heart.

In the remaining parts of the lecture Shaykh-ul-Islam went through many subtle points relating to the night journey. For example, a tafsir of the verses of Surah Tin was given. This tafsir [commentary] was unique, as Shaykh-ul-Islam was the first muffasir [Commentator of the Holy Qur'an] to relate these verses to Mi’raj.

In these verses Allah takes oaths by the tin [fig], zaytun [olive], tursinin [Mount Sinai] and the Balad al-ameen [The sanctified land]. The fig here relates to Sham [Syria], whilst the olive relates to the land of Falastene [Palestine], the Mount Sinai is the mountain in which Musa (as) talked directly to Allah, and the sanctified land is Makkah, from where the night journey started from. All these things that Allah has taken oaths from are all related to the Isra.

The journey started from Makkah, and on the way Holy Prophet (saw) stopped at Syria, which is where Ibrahim (as) was buried; he (saw) then went to Bayt al-Lahm [Bethlehem], which was where Isa (as) is buried, in Palestine. And then Holy Prophet (saw) visited Mount Sinai, where Musa (as) talked to Allah and had received Shariah. All of these stops are significant as they signify that Holy Prophet (saw) is the master of the whole of mankind, and that the Shariah of Ibrahim (as), Musa (as), and Isa (as) is contained in the Shariah of Holy Prophet (saw), so if anyone wants to follow the Shariah of any one of these prophets then they must accept the Shariah of Holy Prophet (saw), who is the leader of all the prophets and messengers.

All praise is to Allah; this gathering was a great success in which over a thousand people participated. May Allah give us more opportunities to take part in such gatherings the future. Ameen

Al-Hidayah [the guidance] is a four-day spiritual retreat set in a wonderful countryside setting, at Heythrop Park, Oxfordshire. This event that has taken place, is one of the most unique events for Muslim youths living in the west, such an experience will live in our memories for years to come.

It all started on Friday 25th August 2006 at 10:30 am, where youths all over the western world came in their flocks to register themselves to this once of a lifetime experience. Applicants came as far as North America to mainland Europe, countries including Denmark, Holland and France. Majority of the participants came from all over Britain, from cities as far as Glasgow and Bristol, to those more closer like London and Birmingham, literally speaking there was no part of Britain, where youth did not come to attend al-Hidayah 2006 from.

Once everyone settled down and was allocated their rooms, lunch was served with an offering of the Jum’a prayers. After this, Dr. Zahid Iqbal and Br. Abdul Qadir started off al-Hidayah 2006 with an introduction, giving details of the schedule of the four days. It was not until later on in the evening, until the arrival of his eminence <a href="http://www.islamicresearcher.com/?s=shaykh-ul-islam"target="_self"title="shaykh-ul-islam" >Shaykh-ul-Islam Prof. Dr. Muhammad Tahir-ul-<a href="http://www.islamicresearcher.com/?s=shaykh-ul-islam"target="_self"title="Tahir-ul-Qadri" >Qadri and Fadeela-tush-Shaykh Ass’ad Muhammad Saeed as-Sagharji (Syria) that al-Hidayah became set in full motion.

Shaykh-ul-<a href="http://www.islamicresearcher.com/tag/islam"target="_self"title="Islam" >Islam delivered his first discourse, on the history of Hadith. This was a perfect way to begin the study of hadith, especially in this age, where there are those people who deny the importance and sanctity of hadith. Shaykh-ul-Islam gave a very informative and educational lecture on this topic, and had cleared many misconceptions, which may baffle the minds of those who are new in their learning of Islam.

On the second day, 26th August, after Breakfast his eminence Shaykh-ul-Islam, delivered his second discourse, introducing Sahih Bukhari. This lecture, which lasted nearly four-hours, was split into two parts. The first aimed to deal with the introduction of Sahih Bukhari, whilst the second was a discourse on the chapter.

After this lecture there was a break, of lunch and prayer. Then next was a lecture delivered by Shaykh Ass’ad Muhammad Saeed as-Sagharji, who is one of the most prominent and greatest scholars of Syria today and a specialist on al-Fiqh al-Hanifiyyah and the ahadith of Holy <a href="http://www.islamicresearcher.com/category/love-of-prophet"target="_self"title="Prophet ( saw )" >Prophet (saw). His eminence delivered a discourse on Tasawwuf [Islamic Spirituality] and gave a clear message that Tasawwuf is based on Akhlaq [Good Morals and Conduct]. Then there was a question and answer session with the shaykh, from which the youth had benefited immensely.

The third discourse was delivered by Shaykh-ul-Islam on Iman [Faith] from Imam Bukhari’s Kitab-ul-Iman [Book of Faith]. In this discourse the importance of the love of Holy Prophet (saw) was discussed in relation to Iman; true sweetness of Faith actually comes from ones love of <a href="http://www.islamicresearcher.com/category/love-of-allah"target="_self"title="Allah" >Allah (swt), his Prophet (saw), and the awliyah [pl. wali- Friends of Allah]. True Iman and the perfection of Iman come only when one makes the Holy Prophet (saw) dear to himself more than anything in this world.

After this discourse, there was a spiritual gathering with Shaam, in which there was recitation of anashid [pl. nashid- poems of praise of Holy Prophet (saw)]. There was also a session of Hadra, which was lead by Shaykh al-Hammami of Syria, who also took part in al-Hidayah 2006, reciting nashids before the lectures of Shaykh-ul-Islam.

On the third day, 27th of August, the day began by the fourth discourse on Sahih Bukhari, this time going through various topics. Many topics were discussed from the Hadith Jibra’il, to the questioning of the grave. In this lecture there were many subtleties, if understood would be a source of salvation in ones aqidah [beliefs].

Later during the day, Shaykh-ul-Islam delivered his final lecture, continuing systematically and going through the pages of Sahih Bukhari taking out important points of aqidah. In this lecture the importance of seeing Holy Prophet (saw) in ones dream was discussed, quoting many anecdotes of the awliyah like Imam Busiri (ra), who is the author if the well known nasheed Qasidah al-Burdah. There was also a discussion on the Ilm al-Ghayb [knowledge of the unseen] of Holy Prophet (saw) taking directly hadiths from Sahih Bukhari.

On the final day, Monday 28th, there was a Question and Answer session with Shaykh-ul-Islam. Many delicate issues were addressed, from questions about the life of Shaykh-ul-Islam, the mission of Minhaj-ul-<a href="http://www.islamicresearcher.com/?s=quran"target="_self"title="Quran" >Quran International to issues, which are quite commonly discussed amongst youth, like marriage.

The four-day retreat finally ended during the day, with everyone getting the chance to meet Shaykh-ul-Islam. There was also a photo session, where everyone got a chance to have their photo taken with his eminence, in the beautiful settings of Heythrop Park.

The telephonic address of <a href="http://www.islamicresearcher.com/?s=shaykh-ul-islam"target="_self"title="shaykh-ul-islam" >Shaykh-ul-Islam Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-<a href="http://www.islamicresearcher.com/?s=shaykh-ul-islam"target="_self"title="Tahir-ul-Qadri" >Qadri started at 2:18 p.m. Addressing the hundreds of thousands of people present at the International Milad Conference, he extended his gratitude to <a href="http://www.islamicresearcher.com/category/love-of-allah"target="_self"title="Allah" >Allah Almighty Who blessed the humanity with the Holy <a href="http://www.islamicresearcher.com/category/love-of-prophet"target="_self"title="Prophet ( saw )" >Prophet (saw) and enabled us to establish our relationship of love, obedience, and respect with him and celebrate the occasion of birth of the Holy Prophet (saw) during this night of 12 Rabi-ul-Awal as his followers and slaves.

He said it was dire need of the hour that we revived the association with the holy Prophet (saw) and whatever age and world we may live in, our souls should belong to the age of 1400 years ago. We should be able to relive those times marked by peculiar set of values and traditions, which were established during the Prophetic period and the periods of Huzrat Abu Baker (RA), Huzrat Umer Farooq (RA), Huzrat Usman (RA) and Huzrat Ali (RA). He said there is no harm in enjoying oneself of the modern facilities like new cars, new technology, new house and modern knowledge provided every thing is acquired through rightful means. But one should never adopt new belief and faith. Rather one should strengthen ones relationship with the old faith, for the older the faith is, the brighter its light would be. Every new belief is a mischief and paves the way for more darkness and degradation. It alienates us further from the Holy Prophet (saw).

He said one should accept or reject new thought, technology, ideas and material goods from the standpoint of rationality but one should never use ones intellect to define ones relationship with the Holy Prophet (saw) because this solely is the domain of heart and insight. The lovers never measure the talk of their beloved on the touchstone of rationality. Where there is dominance of intellect, criticism creeps in there and with the onslaught of criticism, faith is gone. The first lesson Allah Almighty imparted is to believe without seeing. Now it is characteristic of the heart not of intellect. One should never use ones intellect in matters related to the Holy Prophet (saw). It is the love or Ishq as described in mystic parlance, which should be the basis of all human actions with regard to the Holy Prophet (saw). One should extend ones heartfelt respect to anything and everything related with the person of the Holy Prophet (saw) for it is part of faith.

He said love for the people of the Household is part of the faith because the Holy Prophet (saw) held up Hassan (RA) and Hussain (RA) on his shoulders and made them play. The Holy Prophet (saw) said whosoever would love them would love me. The importance or otherwise of everything is measured on the touchstone of its relation with the Holy Prophet (saw). We love the holy places because they were the Prophetic places. Allah is the Master of all cities, then why did the Holy Prophet (saw) said that when I would rise up on the Day of Judgment, people belonging to Madina would be rise up with me followed by people of Makkah and the other people at large?

The Holy Prophet (saw) prayed to Allah Almighty to increase love for Madina more than that of Makkah. This tradition has been reported in Sahih Muslim and Bokhari. He (saw) said our love for the city of Madina is similar to that of Makkah but then added hurriedly it should be more intense than love for Makkah. Why more love for the city of Madina? The answer is simple: it is the place where the Holy Prophet (saw) lived. No doubt Makkah is the House of Allah but the pivot of Allah’s love lies in Madina. I am not saying this. It is established from the tradition of Sahih Muslim and Sahih Bokhari.

They said the Holy Prophet (saw) prayed to Allah Almighty to increase the blessings of Madina and increase it so much that it becomes double than that of Makkah. What is reason behind this difference? They said Hajj is performed in Makkah but why more blessings associated with Madina? Except this there is no other reason that Madina is the home of the Holy Prophet (saw). It is where he lived and now lies buried. That is why the Holy Prophet (saw) said the whole faith of the entire world would be concentrated in Madina like a snake that gets back to its hole for shelter. A time would come in the world when the falsehood and infidelity would prevail and faith or <a href="http://www.islamicresearcher.com/tag/islam"target="_self"title="Islam" >Islam would be limited to Madina.

He said love for Makkah would acquire its meaning with reference to how much love one has for Madina. It was for the people of Madina that the Holy Prophet (saw) said whosoever intended to inflict harm and ill on the city of Madina, he would be melted in the fire of hell in such a way as salt gets dissolved in the water. This is what he said for people of Madina. The Holy Prophet (saw) was teaching his followers that the direction of actions and intentions should be in the direction of the footprints of the Prophet of Islam (saw). If one is able to acquire this much perfection of love, then this love would be instrumental in achieving other associations and attachments of love. Let us revive this relationship and then pass these traditions onto our succeeding generations. There is a need to pass on this legacy. We tend to ignore their childhood and try to impart them these lesson when they come of age and are not able to learn new things. Then we grieve but it is no use crying over spilt milk then. If we transfer our traditions and value system to our future generations, only then will we be able to present ourselves in the company of the Holy Prophet (saw) on the Day of Reckoning.

He prayed to Allah Almighty to endow His blessings on that congregation and bless all those who took part in the Conference in any manner. Durood-o-Salam was offered at the time of dawn of 12 Rabi-ul-Awal followed by fire work as a mark of celebrations. Minhaj-ul-<a href="http://www.islamicresearcher.com/?s=quran"target="_self"title="Quran" >Quran <a href="http://www.islamicresearcher.com/tag/women-rights"target="_self"title="Women rights" >Women League expressed their happiness by freeing pigeons in the air. The Conference ended on the prayers led by Allama Hassan Mir Qadri.

Salat o Salam ka maf’hoom aur Fazilat

CROWDS descended on the Minhaj al-<a href="http://www.islamicresearcher.com/?s=quran"target="_self"title="Quran" >Quran International centre in London, UK to hear a profound scholar speak. His Excellency Dr Muhammad Tahir al-<a href="http://www.islamicresearcher.com/?s=shaykh-ul-islam"target="_self"title="Tahir-ul-Qadri" >Qadri made a formal appearance at the Minhaj al-Quran centre on Romford Road in Newham on the late evening of Saturday 26th April 2008 as part of a world tour. Dr Qadri arrived after completing a successful tour of the Middle East. He lectured at the sacred city of Madina al-Munawwara – home to Islam’s holiest sanctuary and shrine of <a href="http://www.islamicresearcher.com/category/love-of-prophet"target="_self"title="Prophet ( saw )" >Prophet Muhammad.
As crowds continued to pour into the centre the doors were barricaded to prevent overcrowding. Thousands of people continued to congregate on the footway bringing chaos and mayhem on the street. Police cordons were set up to prevent footpath overcrowding and to maintain traffic flow on the highway as internationally acclaimed scholar Dr Qadri arrived at the centre. Makeshift screens were also set up outside the centre to accommodate the vast crowds. Coaches carrying devotees arrived from Manchester, Bradford, Birmingham and Scotland.

In a message of <a href="http://www.islamicresearcher.com/category/peace-and-integration"target="_self"title="Peace and integration" >peace Dr Qadri said: “<a href="http://www.islamicresearcher.com/tag/islam"target="_self"title="Islam" >Islam is a faith of peace, wherever terrorism or extremism attempts to manifest itself in society, we must work and endeavor to eliminate it from its very roots”. Dr Qadri told listeners Islam never promoted violence, aggression or hatred. Islam is about supporting one another and helping your neighbors whether they are Christian, Jewish, Muslim, Hindu, Sikh, Buddhist, agnostic or atheist. “We must show love and compassion to build a cohesive society”, said Dr Qadri.

Muslims coexisted with the Jewish and Christian communities in various parts of the world. Jewish and Christian places of worship, institutions of learning were carefully protected by Muslim administrators. Permission to restore damaged places of worship or to build new places was never withheld. The continued existence of churches and synagogues in Palestine, Syria, Jordan and Egypt is an indication of the respect for other divinely revealed religions. The Sinai Monastery with a mosque beside it on Mount Sinai is an important symbol of Muslim acceptance. Throughout the Muslim world, Muslims, Christians and Jewish communities lived together in peace and harmony for centuries. They enjoyed freedom of ideas and expression at the highest degree.

Dr Qadri also paid a rich tribute to Prophet Muhammad and his legacy. Addressing an audience of above 5,000 people Dr Qadri said: “Muhammad <a href="http://www.islamicresearcher.com/category/love-of-allah"target="_self"title="Allah" >Allah nai ban sakhta lehkan Muhammad Allah sey judda nai ho sakhta – Muhammad cannot become the Creator however at the same time Muhammad cannot also be separated from our Creator”. Dr Qadri also talked on the issue of sending peace and salutations on Prophet Muhammad in light of classical Islamic literature. He told the audience “It is a command in divine revelation to all believers including the angels to send abundant salutations upon the prophet because our Creator also sends peace and salutations upon the prophet.” He also told listeners in light of prophetic teaching Friday is the meritorious day to send peace and blessings upon the prophet. Founder and patron in chief of Minhaj al-Quran International organization Dr Qadri expressed his heartfelt thanks and appreciation of the local government agencies for making the event successful.

So far as the Islamic laws are concerned, the Holy Qur’an and Hadith have the same status because the origin of both is the same i.e. <a href="http://www.islamicresearcher.com/category/love-of-allah"target="_self"title="Allah" >Allah Almighty. But in terms of grade, the Holy Qur’an comes first followed by the Hadith of the Holy Prophet (saw), which is second. The Holy Qur’an is recited revelation, while the Hadith is unrecited revelation. Allah Almighty says in the Holy Quran in Sura Najam:

In the first two sessions, Shaykh-ul-<a href="http://www.islamicresearcher.com/tag/islam"target="_self"title="Islam" >Islam Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri held an elaborate discussion on the topic of ‘Hadith and Sunna of the Holy Prophet (saw) and compilation of Hadith”. With the citation of dozens of the Qur’anic verses and hadiths, he proved that after a particular legal command has been established from the Prophetic traditions, if the condition of its establishment from the Holy Qur’an is imposed, it, in fact, constitutes the rejection of the saying of the Holy Prophet (saw). A person saying so cannot remain a Muslim.

He told with reference to the Prophetic traditions that the condition of getting the Qur’anic authority only is a rejection because if some command stands established from the Hadith, there is no need of its establishment from the Holy Qur’an anymore in the same manner as there is no need to check the validity of any command in the Hadith after its citation in the Holy Qur’an.

Shaykh-ul-Islam Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri said dissension and sectarianism have been ruling the roost in the name of secularism and modernity in the Muslim Umma and people having no grounding in the Hadith sciences were misleading the Umma by resorting to misinterpretation of Hadith.

Speaking on the subject of attributes of the Holy <a href="http://www.islamicresearcher.com/category/love-of-prophet"target="_self"title="Prophet ( saw )" >Prophet (saw), <a href="http://www.islamicresearcher.com/?s=shaykh-ul-islam"target="_self"title="shaykh-ul-islam" >Shaykh-ul-Islam said that <a href="http://www.islamicresearcher.com/category/love-of-allah"target="_self"title="Allah" >Allah Almighty adopted the way of mercy, not justice towards Muslim Umma for the reason that if a believer of the Muslim Umma entertains a mischief but does not implement it, Allah Almighty still rewards him for not choosing to act upon it and if he resolves to do some good, he stands rewarded for one time in case of only resolution and ten times if he implements it. The reason for this special favour is the intercession of the Holy Prophet (saw).

Citing various traditions from Bukhari and Muslim, Shaykh-ul-<a href="http://www.islamicresearcher.com/tag/islam"target="_self"title="Islam" >Islam held that Hajj takes place in Makkah but how come the protection of faith takes place in Madina? He explained this Hadith in great detail that when Islam would be shrunk to Makkah and Madina and the Dajjal would also reach there, faith would be protected by undertaking the journey to Madina, not Makkah because the security and stability of faith would be possible due to the person, and shrine of the Holy Prophet (saw).

Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-<a href="http://www.islamicresearcher.com/?s=shaykh-ul-islam"target="_self"title="Tahir-ul-Qadri" >Qadri said that greatness and holiness of Madina owes itself to the person of the Holy Prophet (saw). Shaykh-ul-Islam referred to and interpreted such Prophetic traditions in which the Holy Prophet (saw) prayed to Allah for endowing more blessings and superiority to Madina in comparison to Makkah. He also made mention of the prayer of Hazrat Umer (ra) in which he prayed to Allah to give him death on His way and bless him with the honour of burial in the holy city of Madina.

Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri said that the Muslim Umma was in the abyss of political decline and moral degradation because it had broken with the source and origin of its inspiration i.e. the person of the Holy Prophet (saw). He urged the Umma to reconnect itself with him in order to regain their lost position. Shaykh Asad Saeed Sagharji and Shaykh Abdur Rehman of Syria, Shaykh Ahmad Dervaish of Egypt, Mufti Habeebullah of Bangladesh, Hafiz Nazir Ahmad Khan of Holland, Allama Noor Ahmad and Allama Sohail Saddique of Norway and many other scholars also spoke at the occasion.

Shaykh-ul-Islam Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri delivered his address on the subject of ‘Love’. He said that love with the Holy Prophet (saw) was the basis of faith and the only way of salvation.

<a href="http://www.islamicresearcher.com/?s=shaykh-ul-islam"target="_self"title="shaykh-ul-islam" >Shaykh-ul-Islam Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-<a href="http://www.islamicresearcher.com/?s=shaykh-ul-islam"target="_self"title="Tahir-ul-Qadri" >Qadri delivered his address on the subject of ‘Love’. He said that love with the Holy <a href="http://www.islamicresearcher.com/category/love-of-prophet"target="_self"title="Prophet ( saw )" >Prophet (saw) was the basis of faith and the only way of salvation. Quoting a tradition he said: “The Holy Prophet (saw) was distributing war booty that Abdullah bin Zil-Khawaisra Tamimi came and said: O Prophet of <a href="http://www.islamicresearcher.com/category/love-of-allah"target="_self"title="Allah" >Allah (saw), distribute with justice. (At his taunt), the Holy Prophet said: O ill-fated man, if I do not do justice, who else does? Hazrat Umer (ra) said: O Prophet of Allah: Allow me to behead this (accursed). The Prophet (saw) replied: restrain yourself. There are (or would be) some of his companions against whose prayers and fasts you would regard your prayers and fasts to be inferior but they would be out of fold of <a href="http://www.islamicresearcher.com/tag/islam"target="_self"title="Islam" >Islam in such a manner as arrow gets through game. The wing of arrow would be inspected (after this being thrown), it would not have any trace of blood. The wood of arrow would also be seen but it would also be bloodless, while the arrow would have pierced through the blood and waste of (game). (In the same way, these accursed people would have nothing to do with faith.)

Now tell what placed them out of pale of Islam and faith? They were quite firm in their prayers, so firm that the Holy Prophet (saw) told the companions that they would find their prayers inferior in comparison to theirs. But their appearance and strict adherence to Shariah could not save them from being thrown out of fold of Islam. Shaykh-ul-Islam said that if one looked up all Books on Hadith, one thing which placed them out of Islam was the disrespect for and blasphemy against the Holy Prophet (saw). A lover is even ready to kiss the dogs of his beloved. He said that this was a mischief, which was rearing its head. Neither should action be excluded from love nor vice versa.

There is a Hadith of Sahih Bokhari. Syedna Umer Farooq (ra) reports that a companion named Abdullah used to sit in the company of the Holy Prophet (saw). He was lax on performance of pious actions while abundant in love. His job was to keep looking at the face of the Holy Prophet (saw). He would see that people presented their problems before the Prophet of Islam (saw) but no one caused him to smile. He would crack a joke after some time, which would relax the Prophet (saw). There was one big shortcoming in the companion. He once committed some major offence and got punishment of lashes. He was meted out punishment of lashes again and again. One day, the holy companions were sitting in the Prophet’s Mosque. The discussion mentioned that companion. Some of the companions started cursing him. At about the same time, the Holy Prophet (saw) happened to come there. Having listened to curse, he said: Beware: do not accurse him (that companion). By God, I know that his heart has love for the Prophet (saw) and Allah Almighty”.

Allama Ibne Tamia has used this tradition in the category of those which throw light on definition of faith or Iman. The sum and substance he has drawn out of this tradition is that despite lacking in performance of obligations, if one still loves the Holy Prophet (saw), one would continue to be a believer and would not be placed out of fold of Iman.

It needs to be mentioned here that abundance of actions was not a sign of love for the Prophet of Islam (saw) there. If love is coupled with action, it becomes perfect but if unaccompanied by action, it remains defective or incomplete. In spite of having mountains of good action, if love is missing in them, one automatically stands out of fold of Islam.

He said no one could be true believer as long as one did not love one’s Prophet (saw) more than oneself. The Holy <a href="http://www.islamicresearcher.com/?s=quran"target="_self"title="Quran" >Quran established this criterion that if one established closeness with the person of Prophet (saw) up to this level, only then can one be a true believer. A Prophetic tradition also hints at the same fact.

The Holy Prophet (saw) said to Hazrat Umer (ra): “You cannot be believer as long as you do not love me more than yourself.” Hazrat Umer (ra) said: “O Prophet of Allah (saw), this single sentence changed my entire life and further said: O Prophet of Allah (saw), Umer has become a complete believer. He furthermore said: “O Prophet of Allah, I love you more than anything,”

Shaykh-ul-Islam Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri said that the Muslim Umma was in the abyss of decline due to its negligence of good actions. It is not good in its conduct. But all these things would come later on. Unless love-based relationship with the Holy Prophet (saw) is established, this ship of Umma would continue to get stuck up in the unchartered waters.

Shaykh-ul-Islam said that the Holy Prophet (saw) not only knows his lovers but also recognizes them till the Day of Judgment. Imam Muslim described in Book Fazail-us-Sahabba and it is reported by Hazrat Abu Hurara (ra), “There was this lover of the Prophet (saw), Hazrat Owais Qarni, who did not visit Madina nor did the Holy Prophet (saw) go to his village Qaran. He (saw) told the holy companions: “There lives a lover of mine in Qaran, a village of Yemen. He could not come to Madina due to illness of his mother. Do go to see him and request him to pray for you.” Hazrat Umer (ra) and Hazrat Ali (ra) report that the Holy Prophet (saw) said: “When you meet him, do request him to pray for my Umma.”

It is reported in Sahih Muslim that these were the days of Hajj. While addressing, the Commander of Believers, Hazrat Umer (ra), said to people: “Get away, all of you and those from amongst you who belong to Qaran should come forward.” Then he asked them: “Is there any Owais among you?” The people of tribe replied that a person by name of Owais did belong to their tribe but he was not in his senses. He asked them to allow him to come forward. Then Syedna Hazrat Umer Farooq (ra) asked Hazrat Owais Qarani (ra), “Is your mother ill?” Owais Qarani replied in the affirmative. Then Hazrat Umer (ra) saw sign of his hand and requested him to pray for the Umma. Then Hazrat Umer went to Qaran to meet Hazrat Owais along with Hazrat Ali and made him pray.

Shaykh-ul-Islam said that the Holy Prophet (saw) never measured love for his person on the touchstone of pious action but on the criterion of love.

Once a companion presented himself in the company of the Prophet of Islam (saw) and asked him as to when the Day of Judgment would occur? The Holy Prophet (saw) replied: ‘Tell, have you made enough preparation for the Day of Judgment? The companion submitted: ‘O Prophet of Allah, I do not have heaps of good actions for the Day of Judgment nor have I been able to collect prayers and fasts in abundance. I do not have treasure of pious acts with me. But O Prophet of Allah (saw), I love Allah and His Prophet (saw).” The Holy Prophet replied: “Blessed are you for you would stand with the one with whom you are associated (by love).”

Shaykh-ul-Islam Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri said that there were hundreds of thousands of Prophetic traditions. Could anyone point out just one of them in which the Holy Prophet (saw) asked the companions about something and they said in response that only Allah knows better. On the other hand, they would say, Allah and His Prophet (saw) know better.

Shaykh-ul-Islam said that if anyone indicated such Hadith, he would correct himself. He said our standard response to lack of knowledge about day-do-day affairs is that “Allah knows better”. Shaykh-ul-Islam said that this was Hindustani and Pakistani creed, not the creed of the holy companions or people of Madia and Makkah.

Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri said that there was not a singe Verse in the Holy Quran whence Allah has commanded believers to obey Him without mentioning the name of His Prophet (saw). He said that there are 42 places in the Holy Quran which mention obedience. Out of these 42 places, 22 contain the commandment of obedience of Allah and His Prophet (saw), while the remaining 20 are those places where believers have been commanded to obey the Prophet (saw)only.

Shaykh-ul-Islam said that the obedience of and submission to the Holy Prophet (saw) was the source of Divine obedience and basis of faith. Minhaj-ul-Quran International is busy spreading the same message through the conduct of Milaad programmes throughout the world.
